The Radio Times 10th Doctor souvenir guide is much more than just a book, it is a piece of artwork. The book details every Radio Times cover to feature Doctor Who from when it first reappeared on our screens in 2005. Starting with the gatefold TARDIS cover from March 2005. It takes you behind the scenes on how the created the wonderful Dalek cover from 2005, to featuring a little behind the scenes look of many of the prosthetics used in the series. Also featured in the guide is clean artwork from every single cover made, exclusive never before seen images and all Radio Times’ thoughts on the episodes. The guide features a forward by Russell T Davies and has anatomies of a Dalek and Cyberman.

The BBC have released a new trailer for the upcoming Doctor Who special, which is due to be aired in November. The trailer, that was shown as part of the Doctor Who panel at the San Diego Comic Con 2009, contains previously unseen clips. The unseen clips include shots of the Mars Base and of the Doctor in the spacesuit that has been previously used in the Impossible Planet and the Satan Pit. Final viewing ratings have been released by BARB, and they show that all 5 episodes made it into the top 20 programmes for the week. The opening episode, Day One, received a rating of 6.47 million viewers, which placed it 13th in the list, Day Two received 6.14 million making the lowest watched episode of the series, Day Three got 6.4 million, Day Four received 6.76 million viewers making the highest rated episode of the series and Day Five managed 6.58 million. Children of Earth recieved an average of 6.47 million viewers and was beat by the top three soaps and Top Gear, however only on episode of Emmerdale rated higher than Torchwood. Over on BBC HD Torchwood got the top 5 places for the week and three of the five midnight repeats got place 6, 7 and 8. Meanwhile the BBC Three repeats on the same night got places 5-9, with three repeats of Eastenders and one episode of Family Gut got the top 4 places. View the full table over on
The filming for the 2010 series of Doctor Who has begun filming today with Matt Smith, as the 11th Doctor, Karen Gillan, as the now named companion Amy Pond, and other special guest stars. Filming has started in Cardiff this morning, where they have returned to Dunraven Bay, where had doubled as Bad Wolf Bay in series 2 and 4,

BBC Books have revealed the official covers and synopsis’ for the upcoming Torchwood books that are to be released on 1st October this year. Earlier this year, Amazon.com uploaded draft covers to promote the books, but that have now been replaced the correct covers which can be seen on the Planet Who News Gallery, or below, along with the synopsis’ for each book.


The overnight ratings for the final episode of the third series of Torchwood have been released. The ratings show that Day Five achieved 5.8 million viewers, a drop of 100,000 viewers from the first episode. Torchwood: Children of Earth – Day Five was the fourth highest rated programme of the day, beating Emmerdale, but being beat by Eastenders and Coronation Street. The audience share for Torchwood: Children of Earth – Day Five was 26.7%.

The ratings show that Day Three achieved 5.9 million viewers, the same amount as the first episode, Day One. Torchwood came close in beating Emmerdale, and could beat the programme when final figures are released, the only other programme to beat Day Three was Coronation Street, Torchwood: Children of Earth – Day Three was the third highest rated programme of the day. The audience share for Torchwood: Children of Earth – Day Three was 27.1%.
The overnight ratings for the second episode of the third series of Torchwood have been released. The ratings show that Day Two achieved 5.6 million viewers, a drop of 300,000 viewers from Day One. However, due to Eastenders and Emmerdale losing ratings because of the Michael Jackson Memorial, Torchwood: Children of Earth – Day Two was the highest rated programme of the day. The audience share for Torchwood: Children of Earth – Day Two was 24%.
The overnight ratings for the first episode of the third series of Torchwood have been released. The ratings show that Day One achieved 5.9 million viewers being beaten only by the three main soaps, Eastenders, Emmerdale and Coronation Street. Day One was the 5th most watched programme of the day and the second highest on BBC One. The audience share for Torchwood: Children of Earth – Day One was 25.9%.

The British listings magazine, Radio Times, for the week 4th – 10th July has been released today and features a Torchwood cover. The initial cover (below) shows Captain Jack Harkness and then when opened up the cover features all three Torchwood members and Rhys. The magazine features a two-page article on Torchwood, which features interviews with all the returning cast and show producer Julie Gardener. Radio Times is out now at a price £1.10.
