Torchwood: The Sin Eaters cover and information

tw_sin_eaters_smallBBC Audiobooks have released the cover and synopsis for the next Torchwood audio exclusive, The Sin Eaters. This audio play is written by Torchwood script editor Brian Minchin and is read by Gareth David-Lloyd who plays Ianto Jones. The story is set somewhere between Exit Wounds and Children of Earth, which is excepted to air in either mid-June or July.
The synopsis for the audio release is as follows;

Alien larvae in a baptismal font mark the beginnings of a terrifying adventure for the Torchwood team in this exclusive audio adventure, read by Gareth David-Lloyd. Searching for the source of a bizarre Rift reading, Gwen, Jack and Ianto find a corpse on the beach, his face covered in hundreds of tiny cuts. Watching from the shadows is a man in black…

The Reverend Hayward thinks he has found a way to take away people’s sins. The trouble is, his special baptisms tend to take away their lives too. For the creatures he collects and puts in his church font are nightmarish parasites, feeding on their hosts’ negative emotions before consuming them. It is up to Torchwood to track them down and destroy them…
Written specially for audio by Brian Minchin, the Torchwood TV series assistant producer, ‘The Sin Eaters’ features Captain Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones, as played by John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Gareth David-Lloyd in the hit series from BBC Television. It contains adult themes and language.

The CD will be released on 4th June and will sell at a rrp of £ 12.99, however you may be able to get cheaper using internet shops. The cover can be seen below.

The synopsis for the audiobook is;

A man has died of old age in his 30s. This, among other strange events, has lead Torchwood to conclude that someone is sending victims to another dimension, one in which they are punished by the thing which they fear the most. Who is the mysterious taxi driver preying on his passengers?

BBC Books have released information about three new torchwood books expected to be released 15th October 2009. Each book will have an rrp of £6.99 and feature Captain Jack, Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones.

Toys: Series 4 Vespiform build-a-figure

Character Options have recently reveled a modified wave of series 4 figures. Character Options are releasing the Supreme Dalek, Davros, Donna, the Pyrovile Priestess, River Song, Sontaran Trooper, Sontaran General Staal, Ood Sigma, Natural Ood, Hath Peck and the Vashta Narada suit creature and also releasing 25 Adipose. Each figure will include a part to make a deluxe Vespiform.

Both the wave of toys and Vespifrom are pictured below. The timelord figure is picture is not yet known if it will be included in the wave.

Character Options have recently revealed the next wave of series 1, 2 and 3 toys. The wave includes Jabe, a purple Clockwork Droid, Captain Jack, Master in YANA clothes, Old and Ancient Doctors from Last of the Timelords, Astrid without apron and Bannakaffalatta. Each toy come with an extra part that when completed after all figures are bought will make a Gelth figure.

BBC Books have now released the information and covers for the set of books to be released this September. The titles for the books are The Taking of Chelsea 426, Autonomy, The Krillitane Storm, each book features a returning character from the new series including the Sontarans, the Autons and the Krillitanes.

BBC Books have released the information and cover (below) for the upcoming book, titled Companions and Allies.

Character Options have now released images and details of three deluxe toys due for release in January next year. The toys include a new version of the cyberleader voice changer helmet to accompany this years christmas special, also being released are Captain Jack’s vortex manipulator and The Journal of Impossible Things from the series 3 episodes Human Nature and the Family of Blood, both the vortex manipulator and the journal come with a mini sonic screwdriver that lights up the same way the full version does.

DVD: The Next Doctor details and cover

2|entertain, have released the details for the forthcoming dvd release of this years christmas special, The Next Doctor. The DVD is scheduled for release on Monday 19th January and includes the full 120 minute version of the Doctor Who Prom which will be broadcast on the red button after the 60 minute version is broadcast on BBC ONE on New Years Day.

The titles and synopsis’ for 3 torchwood books to be released 21st May 2009, have been relvealed. The titles and synopsis’s are as follows:

Torchwood: Into the Silence
The body in the church hall is very definitely dead. It has been slicedopen with surgical precision, its organs exposed, and its vocal cords are gone. It is as if they were never there or they’ve been dissolved… With the Welsh amateur Operatic Contest getting under way,
music is filling the churches and concert halls of Cardiff. The competition has attracted the finest Welsh talent to the city, but it has also drawn something else – there are stories of a metallic creature hiding in the shadows. Torchwood are on its tail, but it’s moving too fast for them to track it down. This new threat requires a new tactic – so Ianto Jones is joining a male voice choir…

Torchwood: Bay of the Dead
When the city sleeps, the dead start to walk… Something has sealed off Cardiff, and living corpse are stalking the streets, leaving a trail of half-eaten bodies. Animals are butchered. A young coupe in their car never reach home. A stolen tugboat is brought back to shore, carrying only human remains. And a couple of girls heading back from the pub watch the mysterious drivers of a big black SUV take over a crime scene. Torchwood have to deal with the intangible barrier surrounding Cardiff, and some unidentified space debris that seems to be regenerating itself. Plus, of course, the all-night zombie horror show. Not that they really believe in zombies.

Jackson Leaves – an Edwardian house in Penylen, built 1906, semi-detached, three storeys, spacious, beautifully presented. Left in good condition to Rob and Julia by Rob’s late aunt. It’s an ordinary sort of a house. Except for the way the rooms don’t stay in the same places. And the strange man that turns up in the airing cupboard. And the apparitions. And the temporal surges that attract the attentions of Torchwood. And the fact that the first owner of Jackson Leaves in 1906 was a Captain Jack Harkness…

Toys: Series 4 Wave 2

Character Options have released images of the second wave of series 4 toys, the wave update includes single figures of Davros and the Supreme Dalek, a Judoon in series 4 packaging and new figures include River Song, Hath, Vashta Nerada and a Timelord from series 3.
